If you are entering a request for information, please, please, please put the surname at the beginning of the Thread Subject.
There's nothing worse than scrolling through the lists and reading something like, "Hi, my name is Fred Bloggings and I am searching for............" then you can't read the surname unless you open the thread!
Sorry to sound like a misery, but...!

Thanks, Carol.
What I meant was that even if you do a search you get the threads with the title and if the surname is not mentioned in the title you have to open each one to see if it is relevant.
Maybe I'm getting too old!
:o)

Ron

I know what you mean Ronald

I am not angry about it...but it makes it so much easier if the 'Heading' says exactly what the person is searching for instead of using it up with......" Hi....I am blah blah bah etc etc etc

In the end I only open up a thread with a heading that is clear....this goes for Birthday or Anniversary threads too. Please make the heading clear.

I too would prefer a clearer heading on lots of threads and try to make my sort of self explanatory - do I succeed lol?

I read them all if I have the time to help where I can - but often, I just skim through them quickly to see if anyone is searching for info on someone in my tree - or someone I am looking for too. That's when I get annoyed if I can't see the name without opening the post.

Another thing which annoys is when people are more interested in explaining their relationship to the ancestor. For example:

My gr/gr/great grandmother was Mary Unknown, and my gr/gr/gr/great grandmother was Elizabeth Named and I am looking for any information on either of them.

This would be easier to read if it said "Need info on Mary Unknown and her mother, Elizabeth Named". Nobody cares what relation they were to the writer.

Oh well, we were all 'new' once. I suppose they will learn in time, just as we did.

I also agree with Ron.

Also, PLEASE, PLEASE stay with your thread, sometimes we need to ask questions, or receive conformation that we are on the right track.

It appears that some do not even bother to get back to the threads. I deleted information on one yesterday (out of frustration) who asked and received an excess of information in June and never came back to the thread.

Well i don't find it a problem cos i bear in mind that sometimes people add threads through the surname summary & might not know that all and sundry will see it

Maybe you should remember that before the changes the only way to access the History board was through your surname & the TTF wasn't thread, if anyone helped it was by PM
