I just watched what I recorded earlier, it's a bit daft and far fetched really - might as well watch the last one tonight
I bet other ex Landgirls are complaining about it too, shame it didn't show them in a better light and more of the actual farm work instead of being made to serve drinks etc

I got a phone call just after 8pm from one of the ladies who was in the Land Army with my Mum, you may recall I put a thread up about going to the village she worked in and meeting her landlady's daughter, who passed on some addresses for me. I sent photos etc and a lady now living in Maidstone, Kent called me and said she remembered my Mum and loved receiving the letter and pics I sent but that she didn't know Mum well because they weren't in communal lodgings. My Mum lodged with a family and this lady who called me was living at her parent's home in the same village as were others so after work they went back to their families and my Mum would go to her lodgings and they would only meet socially on a few occasions. She was interesting to take to and said she had been watching the programme and was disappointed as it didn't show the work, just the frivolity. She is 84 and a widow of several years, and fighting leukemia but for some reason, can't have a bone marrow transplant so can only have blood transfusions, she was philosophical but said she won't let it beat her.

I have two episodes recorded, might go and watch in a mo.

I wonder why this is aired at tea-time?
My sister is very interested in the Land Army as she belongs to a re-enactment group and dresses as a Land Girl,
The young girl with the face like a monkey reminded me of another actress,,,who starred in Ruby in the Smoke..im hopeless with name but she looked just like her,,

I wondered if it would be similar to Yanks, would be good to see more of the work, as was mentioned. Having recently made contact with people my late Mum knew when she was in the Land Army, I wonder what they think of the programme, will have to phone them later and see, after I have watched it, having to record it for now.

I did find out about a romance I don't remember my Mum telling me about tho, with a smallholder - shame it didn't work out as apparently he was quite well off lol Would have meant I might have been a country girl had I still been born lol

Thanks Karen,
I think I remember where I've seen Sophie before - I think she was in Heartbeat some years ago.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the programmes this week.

Hi,
I came across this programme by chance and really enjoyed it.
The actress who played Lady Hoxley - is that Emilia Fox?
I recognise her from somewhere.

Sounds rather disappointing then Rita.
I had hoped that it would give an insight into the women's work.

I've recorded it so will watch and judge later.

Oh Gwyn, thanks for that, I must set up the dvd recorder as I will be at the doctors. My Mum was in the Land Army so this will be interesting to watch even tho probably a bit far fetched.

Sorry I won't get to see you and D on my jollies, after all.
