You can access the electoral rolls on 192.com, but have to pay to view the details. There are several members on this site who offer to do look ups - I will nudge one up on the trying to find board for you.

Ancestry have all births up to 2006 transcribed.

Stuart's is the only Bright birth where the mother's maiden name is Mitchelson.

The site is Ancestry.co.uk

It's the site that most people on Genes use for research. It has births, marriages and deaths, census records, military records and so much more.

You can have a 14 day free trial which is well worth it.

Hi Kathy
Thank you for your help,

Can I ask how would look up people who have changed their names by deed poll. The reason I am asking is apparently my dad Stuart Bright, changed his name to John Deane-Armstrong, then he became John Armstrong.........wow what a character!!!!!!!!!!! could any one of really known this man any way????
Thank you
Sally

KathleenBell Report 15 Sep 2009 21:44

Are you sure he changed his name by deed poll? It's just that you don't have to do anything official to change your name. As long as you are not trying to defraud anyone you can call yourself by any name you wish.

I'm not sure where you find out about names changed by deed poll if he actually did do this.

Hi Kath
I'm not completely sure actually, I don't think anyone is thats why I really want to get into contact with Graham, although I feel this is unlikely as he is prob in Austalia, I have looked as far as I know how too. he was aboard a ship in 1957 with his mum heading for oz and my half sister has sent a message to G Bright in Oz however I feel there is little hope.............maybe somethings are better left............thank you for all of your advice and help...........best wishes and many kind regards
Sally
