Dirty Sanchez TV star stabbed in Norfolk attack

A man who was stabbed in the neck after an altercation in a Dereham shop is believed to be a television star, it has emerged.

Police were called to the East of England Co-Operative Society Co-Op shop just before 5pm today (Monday) to reports that a man, understood to be Mathew Pritchard from the television show Dirty Sanchez, had been stabbed.

Police confirmed a 36-year-old man suffered a serious neck injury and an ambulance service spokesman confirmed a person in the area had been taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital at about 4.40pm.

The Co-op shop in Shipdham Road, Toftwood, includes Toftwood Post Office, and one person in the area said: “There was some sort of scene in the shop and a customer was stabbed.”

Police said a man in his 30s was arrested at his home in Dereham following what they described as “a serious assault”.

A spokeswoman said he was arrested a short while after the incident on suspicion of wounding and was being questioned by officers.

The spokeswoman added the man who was attacked had already been discharged from hospital but confirmed “an instrument” had been used to inflict the injury.

On Mr Pritchard's Twitter feed he confirmed he had been attacked and said: “Thank you for all your best wishes it means a lot and thanks to the amazing ambulance, doctors and nurses you were great.”

Mr Pritchard is one of the members of the Dirty Sanchez team, whose show on MTV sees the stars performing pranks and stunts, which often end in injury.

A sign at the shop said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances this shop is temporarily closed. It will re-open at 7am tomorrow .”

Eyewitnesses said a small black car in the driveway next to the shop had been covered in police tape.

A spokeswoman for the East of England Co-Operative Society said: “There was an incident in our Toftwood store. None of our staff were directly involved with it.”

Toftwood is only a small place, but these things seem to be more and more common.
