I have the Census and he lived there in 1861- am wondering how long he was there for and if they have old picture of the Pub/staff etc.

My grandmother grew up in a pub, her father then her mother were the licensed victuallers. They are all listed on the census returns. There is also a series of Kellys Directories which can give details too.

Publicans licences are granted by the local courts. You may find records in your county record office listed under "Magistrates Courts" for your area.

Would there be the info you want in Whites or Kellys directories? If there is, you can see a lot of them on line at historical directories
