Thanks everyone, I think I have to assume he was born In Oct/Dec and a mistake has been made on the cetificate. Jon I can't find anything else to say there was such a date so think that maybe an error in the paper. |

There is an old headstone in the local churchyard stating that the deceased died on 31st April - so mistakes are not uncommon!! |

The problem could be that someone has mis read the information when copying out a certificate. |

Jo-Anne, I have put a question on the Tips Board about certificates in general. This point has always had me baffled, a state of which I am not fond. The easiest way to solve the problem is to ask. There will be someone who has the answer. |

I have seen entries in Births, deaths and Marriages here in NZ and they are quite often a month out and one case I struck they were 10 years out. Remember the entries were handwritten in large registery books, mistakes could be made at the time of the entry or when it was transcribed to the copy that you have. The original certificate would have been given to the family concerned at the time and everything after that is copied. |

Thanks for your replys AuntieSherlock & Jon. I have re-looked at the registration and it was Oct-Nov, am i right in saying that the Certificates we receive are true copies of original certificates? But also if there was such a date in the 1900 then they have the registration wrong. Starts to get confusing when this happens |

It was a leap year and a new century,so maybe there was such a date. |

Is it possible to track the original source of the birth on Ancestry or Free BDM and have a look at the image. |

I have recently received a birth certificate and the date is Thirty First September 1900. As there are only Thirty days in Sept, I Just wondered if anyone else had received anything like this & how this could happen. |
