This brown liquid is probably linseed oil .and harmless, store ALL your paint tins upside down to prevent skin forming on top, turning it over before opening will give you fresh clean paint to start using.Fred. |

Hi Jane, your paint will be fine to use, I'm surprised that nobody has extolled the merits of water based gloss. It dosn't smell, takes no time at all to dry, does just as good a job, and you can wash your brushes in soapy water. I never use anything else for indoor painting nowadays, I forgot to say that it dosn't yellow like oil paint either. |

I never remember to read the instructions on the tin until I've opened it! Then I must look a comical sight trying to read the small print without spilling the paint. |

It should be okay. I get the brown stuff and always stir it before painting. Apart from the fact that more paint ends up on me than the doors/skirting there's never been a problem yet lol |

Please can someone tell me if it is ok to use gloss paint after it has been stired. when I opened the tin the white gloss paint it had a small amount of brown liquid sitting on the top of it. I didnt want the brown to go on the door so I gave it a stir. Then for some reason I checked the instructions and it said do not stir. Will it still be alright to use.? |
