at 2.30pm all our pupils and staff stopped to pause as we remembered those who lost their lives 8 years ago ~ most of the pupils were too young to remember, but the adults amongst us this silence was very poiniant as we remembered that time stood still as the world was shook to the core and remembering the dedication of the people and emergency services at all sites that proved all too close particularly for those who lost someone that awful day in our history, the day we would all like to blot out and the images we will never erase

I don't think anyone will forget where they were on that awful day Mel . I was flicking channels and on CNN when the news started coming through .

The bravery shown on that day by so many was truly remarkable , I am glad that your school made a point of remembering today and kept silence as a mark of respect.

Rest in peace all those who were lost, and continued thoughts for their families and friends and all those affected . Another few years apparently till the memorial museum will be built ( finished ).

Hi Keith yes truly sad x

Rose its so easy for us to go about our lives for those most unaffected (adults included) there came oh yes I forgot about that but most of us cannot forget I saw young children with tears and it moved me x

I was sat listening to a 6 year old read when one of our parents came in and relayed it all to me maybe it was shock or disbelief I don't know but it wasn't till we came home and my eldest two sat in front of the TV to watch CBeebies with their milk and got those terrible images it actually hit us and we realised the inplications of the lost lives we all 4 sat transfixed and silent

9/11 effected my life and those of my family, there is nothing wrong with remembering, respecting but I think like with all disasters its time the world moved on.

this quote from a Ground Zero memorial site

"However hard it might be, I cannot let the feelings of emotional loss consume me. Today I choose to re-dedicate myself and this website to some of the positive thoughts that can be taken from this tragedy. A belief in the human spirit of ordinary people - that when faced with the worst of situations they chose to help one-another instead of letting chaos consume them. A re-kindling of brotherhood - to see that we are part of our community, especially in the darkest hours, and that even one small person's contribution can help us all. And finally in the goodness of people - that when times are tough the people who know what is right will step forward and do what they can to keep it right.

your right in some respects Hayley but it has also brought out some good I hate the thought not only of the lives lost because of this war on terror I also hate what its done to our poor lads who have lived through the horrors or it but it would never have been acceptable to allow this to happen again and again and do nothing the good I see is that we ordinary folk have more regard for human life and respect for fellow man

Thanx Rose that's very moving x

that day we learned a new word

" 9/11"

meaning the 11th of September,

a day when something we thought couldn't happen, Happened......
A day when 3000 people lost their lives, and the world lost much of its' sanity.....

No we haven't learned a thing through any of the momentous times in history. We didn't learn through all the wars - we've only learned to fight "better". Better weapons, better strategies. We didn't learn with Hitler - evil people have still been allowed to gain power which has in turn led to more wars.

War is stupid but its surely the only way to stop these people it scares me how many more lives are taken because of it but I often think how many are they preventing being taken ~ all life is sacred
