Making mine next week it's only 14 weeks to Christmas then. Decided this year well June/July to save those Tesco money coupons you get each month and use them for the Christmas goodies.

By the way a tip I got years ago (not saying how many he he) from a master baker was to cut marzipan up very small and add it to the fruit/cake mix. It does keep it moist although I do add the extra booze occasionally with a syringe.

Think I'll give the Irish Christmas cake recipe a nudge LOL

We arent that enamoured of Christmas cake me & OH like it but our family dont like Marzipan and /or Icing so I have a lovely Dundee Cake recipe that we make for Xmas. If we are going to our daughter for Xmas we take it with us as part of our contribution.I buy the fresh Turkey rolled breast too from our local butcher, costs an arm and leg but worth is cos its all white meat with no bones so goes a long way.
Our SIL loves Dads cake so none left and our daughter loves OH home made mine pies so none from them either. We often have to remake the cake & pies so we have some for us
