Hello everyone,

Does anyone know anything about Greenwich pensioners please?
I recently got a death certificate dated 1857 and my relative was listed as one. Is it possible that there will be records of his service in the Navy and if so how would I go about finding them?

Thank you

Alex.

The details, of both service history and payment of the pensions are held at The National Archives at Kew. After 1853 the service records are mostly on line now in their Documents on Line section.

This probably won't help though as your man predates these and you would need to look at their microfilm records, probably in the series ADM 29.

Try the web site for more information www.nationalarchives.gov.uk and look for their research guides.
