Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 14 Sep 2009 20:39

I was so pleased a fortnight ago to get a reminder through the mail that some money I had put into a Bond years ago and almost forgotten about, was due to mature, it saved me having to scrape round for holiday spending money and I could pay some things off before I went away and know I had some fall-back cash.
I duly filled in the form, after ringing to check the alternatives, and was told if I put my bank details it would be transferred to the bank. I rang at the beginning of last week to be told the cheque was on it's way to me? I queried why not straight into bank and the woman said there seemed to have been an error as my details were clear to see. Ok so I need to pick up the cheque from my house and put into the bank myself. Went round several times and no letter with cheque. I rang again and was told Sorry no you couldn't have had it transferred - we don't do that, but if you had put the address of the bank we could have sent the cheque directly to them. On Friday I was assured the cheque should be with me by now. I didn't go on Saturday but went today altho there was a local postal strike today and nothing was delivered Saturday either. I now have to go again tomorrow, a round trip of 10 miles, to see if it's there, if not I have to phone and fax details to a Supervisor at the N.Savings and they will cancel the cheque and send a new one to my bank. This won't arrive, if it does, until after my holiday has started and will take time to clear too.
So my cheque is probably snarled up somewhere cos of the postal strikes and my plans for the holiday are curtailed cos I can't get any cash anywhere else quickly enough!
If the Savings people had told me the correct information at the first call I could have had things sorted by now, unless the cheque to the bank had also gone astray.

I am furious, upset and disappointed..... an apology from them is not enough!

Oh and because I was stressed out over this I forgot the date and got up to find a Happy Anniversary Card to Us on the mantlepiece wishing us both a happy holiday, o.h. had for the first time in several years remembered the anniversary of our meeting, and I had forgotten!

I used to make comments when he forgot and this year he wrote it on his calender, with the comment, can't remember how many years - I added the words 'too many', but still managed to completely forget! (13 years !)

Hi Claire, no I am very stressed anyway, always get like that cos it sort of transfers from him getting wound up, if he left me to it and stopped going on about things I would have everything organised - except my blasted money - but he will keep saying what are you doing about this, or what about that, till I want to scream!

No he didn't mind that I forgot - he has done it a few times, and it doesn't really mean anything to me now anyway lol, except I wish I could go back thirteen years and a day and not have attended the wedding where I met him.

I am really tired and as I will have to go out again tomorrow, I think I might go and have a snooze in front of the tv, he isn't home till 12.30am until Friday, when it's 10.30pm as he is covering for the other chap on the opposite shift who is on holiday this week. He's the lad who messed up our holiday dates earlier in the year and then changed his dates too late for us to do anything about it, hence us having this late holiday yet again!

Oh dear, it's started to rain again, hope it leaves off by the time he does, or he will be in a wonderful mood cycling home in the rain lol

Hope you and yours are ok Claire

Sorry Claire, didn't work!! All I had through the door was junk mail, so phoned the woman and another is being posted tomorrow to this address and she said it should arrive Thursday, I certainly hope so, then I can take it straight to the bank and it should clear by Wednesday at the latest. I decided to do that rather than risk it going to the bank and sitting there with me not knowing where it was. I did ask about taking it in to the bank and paying for fast clearance, but was advised not to do that as guess what they do? Only post it back to the sender for clearance!!! Apparently due to the postal strikes several people who paid for the service with other cheques are still awaiting clearance so a waste of time and money. I am so fed up, the stress is ruining the thought of the holiday and I feel like cancelling.

It's not just the faffing about Claire, it means I have no funds for things I wanted to do before I go away and have to borrow off o.h. for my euros etc I would have arranged something else had I known this would happen but was relying on the money coming through properly to make sure I had funds available for everything while away.

Oh well, keep everything crossed for Thursday delivery please.
