I'm looking for the poem about a dog. Pets prayer or something like that.
If I remember right it was from the dog to the owner :((
I am wanting to give it to someone who has just had to have their dog put to sleep :((

Thanks for any help
Marion

Could it have been on one of Muffy's threads when she had to have one of hers put to sleep? I seem to remember the seeing the poem...

Marion, is it this one?

If it should be....
If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
and pain should keep me from my sleep,
then you must do what must be done,
for we know this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad, I understand,
but don't let grief then stay your hand,
for this day, more than the rest,
your love and friendship must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years,
what is to come can hold no fears.
Would you want me to suffer? So,
when the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend,
only stay with me until the end,
and hold me firm and speak to me,
until my eyes no longer see.

It is a kindness that you do to me,
although my tail it's last has waved,
from pain and suffering I have been saved.

Do not grieve, it should be you,
who must decide this thing to do.
We've been so close, we two these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

It's sent me off with the leaky eyes again too Marion.

During my mass clear out I found a pic of my old lady aged 6 mths old......What I wouldn't give for just one more cuddle with her :0(

So sad.
A friend had a hard decision to make about her old lady.I told her I would pass on the poem.
I did warm her if she wasnt crying when she read it she would be.

Thanks everyone

Throws in the tissues for Muffy...and anyone else who just read it.
