I am curious, as it has been suggested that it is a good, free, means of storing your tree. I'd be grateful for comments.

Thank you all.

I use Legacy but only as a 'spare'. I've got my sister in laws relatives on it at the moment.

It's fine, quite easy to use. I just ignore the pop up that I see every time I open it that urges me to purchase an upgrade.

By the way, I couldn't print out an 'all relatives' tree on the free version but it did a nice pedigree which is really all my sister in law can understand, bless her cotton socks.

Hi Janet.

I only ask, as I have had contact with a GR member, who has links to my tree. I couldn't open the attachment that he sent, so he suggested, that as it originated from Legacy, that I might have a look.

Many thanks

Hmm..I thought you could send a GEDCOM via Legacy. I've only recently started using it, though. Someone else more experienced with it might know.

I have my tree off line on Legacy. I find it excellent for printing out "stories" for relatives. The narratives you can obtain are really good. You don't have to start again just GedComm your Ancestry or GR tree into Legacy.

I also haven't purchased the up date. I'm quite happy with the downloaded version I started with.
You can add all sorts of details, photographs, certificates, sources etc etc.

It is quite comprehensive and a little daunting to start with. I certainly don't have expertise in the whole package. However it is fairly easy to learn. I just keep doing things, correcting, trying again, adding more etc etc.

It was pointed out to me that it is an excellent way to conserve your tree off line, so if anything ever happens you will have another copy of your tree saved to your computer, or an external hard drive.
