According to all the info I have the children were born in Bishopstone,Salisbury. He was born in Southampton from a seafaring family. He married in Cardiff in 1882. Was in Litherland,Liverpool by 1901 and the family settled there.

All of his siblings stayed in Southampton apart from one sister who moved to Pontycllyn and married a Jones (?!!). He is not with any of his siblings during the missing years... I have followed their BMD and census details. One of his brothers went down with his ship in a famous disaster in 1905 off the French coast... only 5 survivors.

In 1901 his only daughter was working in a match factory... . when she died in the 1950's she owned at least three properties and left all of her money to her nieces and nephews. Where did a working class girl get this sort of money from?. Niether my Dad or Granddad knew or perhaps my Granddad didn't like to say.... lots of things not talked about.

Were the children born in this country? Only, I have a mariner - I took years to find him - and his first child was born in Ireland. I assume this is also why I can't find his first marriage.
