tuts
laziness is fine for folks with no allergies

Sue Report 20 Sep 2009 12:12

The stupid thing is I usually prepare all fresh seafood myself. This was pure laziness on my part, which I really regret!!!

When I first started to feel so bad I did wonder if was it my heart, but as I didn't have chest pains I ditched that idea...lol but that will give you an idea of just how ill I felt.

OMG Sue, you know what to avoid now don't you. The chances are that seafood prepared in a factory will be prepared close to or even the same line as other seafood has been prepared. Maybe your calamari was prep'd after a run of prawns or scampi.

PS are you sure you didn't just forget to empty your catheter bucket?

As I was on my own I thought I would have a snack instead of preparing a meal. I decided on battered calamari manufactured by the UK's biggest seafood processor.

I am terribly allergic to scampi and I am always really careful about not eating seafood in a restaurant unless the chef can assure me that what I want to order hasn't been prepped anywhere near the dreaded scampi.

Anyway, at about 9.15 I started to feel unwell, made it to the kitchen and had just poured hot water on a tea bag and I knew I was going to faint. Fainting and a duff hip do not mix!!!! I got to a kitchen chair and laid with my head on the table whilst sweat starting pouring from every conceivable pore. I was scared to death. I knew I had to get to the bathroom (upstairs) but was too frightened to move in case I did faint. I knew by then I was having an allergic reaction. Thank goodness I have never suffered anaphylaxis from scampi.

I had to take a chance and get to the bathrooom (we'll gloss over that). I then laid on the bed and woke up three hours later feeling much better. Got up made some toast and tea and started to recover. Today I am just left with the fuzzy head.

Considering how careful I am I guess I was just unlucky, the rest of the calamari is in the bin!!!!

Sue xx
