If Uggers had not put up a thread below about 'evidence' i would not have popped over to Ancestry to look at a baptism...had I not done that I would not have noticed that the Thomas born to William and Mary in 1828 could not be the same Thomas born to William and Mary in 1841..and if I had not noticed that, I would not now be tearing my hair out trying to work it all out ;( lol
helpppppppppppppppppp

he may have Stella...but that still won't help lol because he would still have been born before William and Mary married... and that can't be because she was still married to first husband..... the children from that marriage on the 1841 living with Will' and Mary and their subsequent children......

lol Jac ...awww now I feel guilty ;)

Uggers it's not really your fault.................... I just rather wish I hadn't looked lol

there is just one possibility...I have another William on the 1841 born 1770 ish ...if he also married a Mary , then that Thomas could have been his son... William would have been in his late 50s... but wife might have been younger...in which case Thomas could have been 'my' William's brother...which would make sense as then William named his son thomas 1841 after his brother 1828

confused ? lol

I just looked at an index of a birth/baptism and it said 1849.....When I checked by actually viewing the baptism...the birth was in fact 4 years before.....the person was baptised with baby sister...so it pays to check further than an index/transcription.

Thanks Bob :))

Susan...it says the baptism was 1831 but has DOB as 1828 on image which is helpful...am just trawling through now :))

Karen in the desert Report 20 Sep 2009 21:46

Can I just say, now that we're on the subject...London baptisms.....I found loads of mine, and some extras I didn't know about which was a fabulous bonus, but be careful...
...I found a LOT of mistakes.
ie my great aunt is given my grandma's date of birth, so it would seem they were twins rather than having 3 years between them.
I have 3 children being baptised on the same day, and are given the wrong parents names, they have been given the parents names of the preceeding children.
I have another 2 children who have been given the wrong address completely.
And I have one child who was given a workhouse address when they clearly didn't live in the workhouse because below is her sister being baptised on the same day with the correct address.

EDIT: All THAT is what is written in the register, I haven't even mentioned the mistranscriptions yet!!!!!!!

Just wanted to say - don't fully rely on the information given.

Karen was just about to add in similar vein :))

Just found a baptism of one of my Fishlocks... transcribed as Fislack ...and looks like that on image too due in part to fading....always worth looking at the odd spellings.
