I have been a member of Ancestry for 4 years, it has been invaluable with the information I have gleaned. Like Gail I will be upgrading next week. Highly recommended.

I did sign up once as pay as you go, but it did not give me access to everything. I wanted to email someone and it said that I couldn't. I did not find pay as you go very helpful.

You could always sign up for a free 14 day trial and see what you think, but remember to cancel it before the 14 days are up or you will be charged. You can also sign up for just a month if you want.

Make a note of what you are looking for first.

Thanks for the advice. May well join ancestry, although thegeneologist does give parish records, non-conformist records, wills, etc.,
Carole.

I have just upgraded mine to the premium UK, as there is so much more on there.

You can always ask if there is anything you need to find, by posting your request on the Records Office or Tips Board.

Regards

Gail

I don't know what the genealogist website offers Carole...but will say that the addition of new parish records on Ancestry , plus its military records, criminal register etc has given me info I would not have found on Genes... plus all the US census which has been helpful on another line... and the family trees that are on there of course.
Well worth the money I think.

Hi Carole,
You can use Ancestry free at your local library.

Can someone advise me whether it is worth paying for membership of ancestry.co.uk. I already have gold membership here on genes, which gives me access to census, BMD. I also have access via thegeneologist web site. Is there anything further to be gained by joining ancestry?
