Yes, there was someone... I can only remember her *real* name... not her board name... but her board name did have Romany in it... Romany Star?

She doesn't post very often any more, I don't think.

they original gypsies were from eygpt x

My lot were gypsies but not in the true sense of the word for some reason one of them chose that way of live and others followed x

I think in the 1800's it was a case you went where the work was,so travelled a lot.Maybe wrong but i have travellers in my family. Annie

I might be able to help I've got info on one branch of my family Romanies back in the 1800s - names Hodgkins / Sheriff / Fletcher / Loveridge / Boswell - areas Warwickshire / Worcestershire / Northamptonshire / Herefordshire / Staffordshire

A tip : when looking through British census records for Romany families try & use the broadest search parameters as poss; with age, with surname spelling & sometimes place of birth - best to try & keep to roughly the same location in the census - they tended to move around a bit but mostly within a limited area

Good morning Dizzy

I am now in UK and hope to be doing some more research for the Shepherd family most of whom seem to have been in born in Hertfordshire,

I do hope that you are not offended but is there any chance that if i sent you further info that you would be able to help with my research?

As usual, up with the lark, not sure if it is the road traffic noise, or body clock telling me to get up.

have a good day
