Official legal adoption didnt start till 1927 so maybe he was put in a home and adopted after 1927.
Adoption papers are only available to the adoptee I,m afraid . if the person has since died the info isnt available to anyone else

I was wondering if anyone could help.

I have just recieved a copy of a birth certificate for Percy Smith born 1922 in Barnet. It says in big letters on the certificate Adopted.

Can i find records of the adoption? Also as the child was born in 1922, would the adoption have been official? Or as adopted is on the certificate does this mean he was adopted later?

His mother died when he was 5 days old and so i assume his father just had him adopted becaus of this.

Any help or advice would be great.

thanks
