I used to drive a diesel Escort, big old lump and no power steering. The only time I have ever tried Dr Pepper in my life I was driving a hired car with power steering home late one night.

The police blue lighted me and made me get out and walk round the car to them.
Apparently the car was all over the place and they thought I was drunk.I was driving it like my car and it was responding too well.

I have never touched Dr Pepper since though!

I think you,ll find that Fog/Spot lights should only be operable when the headlights are on. \I got stopped for a Supposed Bulb Failure, When I told the police that They were all OK. HE asked how I knew, then I showed him the computor system which displayed if a bulb had gone. He was just after a Pinch. The down side is that when it shows a bulb has gone, It does,nt say which one.**M**.

Cathkin, that is what I was implying.........
WHO decides whether the lighting is adequate,at the time, or not..........why, Old Bill of course!!!

the consensus is that, most drivers will use headlights, whether they are needed, or not, Just in case..........

Bob

LOL unless you drive a Volvo, in which case the decision is taken out of your hands.......LOL

I understood that in a lit area side lights are adequate.

loosely speaking

"Dipped Headlights Must be used where the street lighting is inadequate"

however this is taken to mean that when in motion the car should display Dipped(at least) headlights.

now what annoys me. is that when in a traffic queue NO one seems to be aware that they can be blinding oncoming cars, especially when waiting to turn right ie into a carpark/supermarket as ours does in Bretton where the stop line is slightly on a rise,

Glad you got away from this tug.......see how easy it is, to get stopped?
A tip,
Always ASK WHY you have been stopped, never volunteer information, like "sorry I Know I was going a bit quick....."or" The lights changed as I got to them....." he MAY have only stopped you for a dud bulb, or something.......

Fog lights, should only be used when it is foggy, when these are left on during the day you MAY get stopped......

Ps whats the REAL differences between Driving lights, and front fog lights.....sometimes only the car manual will explain,,it all comes down to HOW they are switched on, I believe...

In Essex, the police stop people by the colour of their car.
They have a points system, like snooker, black car gets them 7 points a white scores 0!

Jackie Report 26 Sep 2009 01:45

So, it could have been fog lights, brake lights, what ever!

They're only looking for a nick!

stopped by the police , knew hadn`t done anything , he said I only had my side lights on. I had picked daughter and partner up from a wedding -the hotel is notorious for police following people leaving and I was just down the road.
