I have retuned my freeview box, which has a hard drive so I can record programmes for later viewing.

It seems to have worked ok, but now the guide has listings with blanks for Channel 5, ITV3, ITV4 and one or two others. I suppose I won't be able to programme these now, if there is nothing showing. I don't think it will be a great problem as I didn't use these channels often. Wonder if it will sort itself out eventually or if it is now lost. I really don't understand all this modern technology.

I will wait and see what happens with my husband's freeview box in the lounge when he gets in. If his shows the same, we will know that is normal. (I don't mean to imply that I am tied to the kitchen, its just that I can sit at the kitchen table with my laptop, and watch what I want!)

Off to listen to my crystal set.......

Elisabeth.

Most TV's and set top boxes have two options. Add new, or delete and replace. (Terminology may vary)

Following a tip from the guy who installed a new aerial last year, I always do the latter, which ensures you have a clean install and don't end up with redundant slots all over the shop, or with channels appearing under 801, 802 etc because the correct slot still thinks it is allocated.

Try this Elisabeth, and you should have everything back in its proper place.

PS my wife has just said that the delete and re-install option is the one that has been recommended by the TV companies all this last week.

Hawkwind,

Thanks for the information - I will try what you say.

I have some items scheduled to record over the next couple of hours, so I'm going to watch for the little red light, to see if it comes on first.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to this numpty!

It has been reported that some viewers who receive their Freeview service from a relay transmitter will no longer be able be able to receive ITV3 and ITV4. As a result of moving position on the Freeview platform, a small percentage of homes will find they lose these services after retuning.

It doesn't appear to say if or when they will regain these services.

It is all very confusing. I am watching Five, in its normal place, - World War One in Colour. On the programme guide there is nothing listed beside the Five slot, where it usually tells me what is on.

At the end of the long list, after all the radio etc, there is a blank space for a channel title, but all the listing of each hourly, or half hourly programme for Five. That is the place I am now recording this same programme.

I have looked at the ITV 3 & 4, where there is no listing of the subsequent programmes, but the programmes are showing if you click on them.

Why didn't they just leave it all alone.

Dear Bob

Hello

Its all Greek to me this freeview business!!

We have the basic TV set with 5 channels and at times, poor reception.

One of my relatives lives in Norfolk and he cannot even get Channel Five.

Does anyone remember just 3 TV stations?!!

Best wishes to all

I am spitting feathers, I set up the digital dvd to record Neighbours while I was away and it stopped doing it after 30th Sept, I couldn't understand why I was getting 'no service' on the last few recordings! Then I heard the instructions to retune! Why didn't I know about it before we went away, suppose it wouldn't have been possible to do it anyway with having to change over half way through my hols. Will let o.h. know about the instructions and info on here, thanks!

We are in Norfolk and for a long time getting Five to show clearly was a pain, but it helped when we got the freeview box on the upstairs set and the digital dvd recorder that we routed the tv through.

Liz,

I don't know how long you are away for, but there is an omnibus edition of the whole week's episodes on Fiver on Saturday afternoons.
