Winter Drawers Ever Near Report 30 Sep 2009 19:44

I found one of my peeps on the floor this morning and having established that she wasn't hurt I told her I was going to get the ambulance crew round to pick her up and check her over.

When I got through to 999 the operator asked me the routine questions and then asked me "is she breathing".

I said I hoped so otherwise I was having a seance and not a conversation with her!

It has made me giggle all day.

I hope your lady is OK today.

I was a keyholder for a neighbour and listed so with her careline response team It was worrying to be called and find her on the floor. She begged me to get her up and onto the bed, but I knew not to do that as I could do more harm than good. I just covered her with bedclothes and we quietly chatted until the ambulance crew arrived.
They checked her over and advised that she go to hospital as she'd been badly shaken, but would she go,? - Not likely.
She carried on living alone with support, until she died just 3 months short of her 100th birthday.
A tough breed, these old'uns.!
