Missing birth certificate

I cannot find a mention of the birth of George Baldwin born 1846ish at Bures St Mary, Suffolk, parents Thomas and Sarah. There are 3 other Georges born in Suffolk around that time. After 1837 I thought you had to register children, maybe it`s another transcription error.

Registration started in 1837, but there was no penalty for not registering until 1875, so in the years between those dates not every birth was registered.

Thanks to all replies, looks like he was never registered. The family was poor so maybe couldn`t afford to.

Hi Somerset Girl, I sent for the certificate of George Stanton Baldwin some time ago. None of the details match, he also appears in a later census as does this other George I am looking for, so obviously different people. Thank you very much for trying to help me though.
