Missing birth certificate

I cannot find a mention of the birth of George Baldwin born 1846ish at Bures St Mary, Suffolk, parents Thomas and Sarah. There are 3 other Georges born in Suffolk around that time. After 1837 I thought you had to register children, maybe it`s another transcription error. |

Registration started in 1837, but there was no penalty for not registering until 1875, so in the years between those dates not every birth was registered. |

Thanks to all replies,looks like he was never registered. The family was poor so maybe couldn`t afford to. |

Hi Somerset Girl, I sent for the certificate of George Stanton Baldwin some time ago. None of the details match, he also appears in a later census as does this other George I am looking for, so obviously different people. Thank you very much for trying to help me though. |
