crochet problem .......tension

Thanks for your tip, I am a slack knitter. Although I am using 4ply wool it is not 'patons' but I shall buy a ball of wool in that make and see how I get on with the tension then. |

If you are getting the tension right one way, perhaps the difference is in the way you hold the wool. Try to relax the tension in your fingers. I know it's not easy. I have always held wool tightly for both knitting and crochet and have to allow for this when following a pattern in knitting. Sorry, I haven't followed patterns in crochet. |

My 1st attempt at crocheting a cardigan I find I can't get the tension correct. The pattern states a 2.5 hook 28sts to 14 rows. I get 23 sts and 12 rows so I changed to a 2 hook and get 23 sts and 14 rows. At least I am half way there!! I tried a 1.75 hook but that wasn't near the tension at all. |
