Has anyone tried making this and if so do you have a recipe please?
A combination of fruits eg. with blackberry and apple would be OK.
I've had a look via Google, but a 'tried and tested' recipe would be great.
Suitable for teenage grandson to make in school, please because

Never done anything but wine with elderberries myself. They are a tad bitter, so how about elderberry with squishy pears. That would be differant, and go down a treat with icecream.

There's some great ideas here and some unusual blends of flavours - Thanks.

Have now been informed that they are working to school's recipe, but will use their own choice of fruit.
I will show him the lovely combination of fruits which you have suggested.

There are alot of elderberries around here, plus blackberries so I had thought he could use some, but it's up to him to choose.

Barbra
He loves trying out new ideas and enjoys cooking.

Just have to train him a bit better in the washing up department next!

I'm sure it will be lovely, whatever he chooses to do..... send him our love, by the way ~~~~~~

Thanks Daff...I'll tell him.
The latest I've heard is that he is visiting here after school tomorrow so that we, - he and I, can go fruit picking from nearby bushes in readiness for Wednesday's lesson.
It's great being a Granmum!

From what i remember of the country food when i was a young lad [he he] i seem to remember Elderberry and blackberry going together very well in a crumble ,and with the blackberry ,there is no need for much sugar to be added to the fruit itself ,only the crumble. Fred.

That's good news Fred.
That would be just a couple of years ago...?
I hope you enjoyed your holiday. I must go back there someday....Happy memories.

J. should arrive any time now, to go out fruit-picking from the hedgerows, so I wonder what we'll find?
