Can any help me with when certain periods occured ie . Elizabethan. Edwardian, Georgian, Victorian,

For a start: Queen Victoria ascended the throne in 1837 and was Queen of England until her death in 1901. This is what we call the 'Victorian' period.

On Queen Victoria's death, her son gained the crown. This was King Edward. He died in 1910. This was the Edwardian period.

Elizabethan = 1558-1603 (Reign of Elizabeth 1)

Georgian = 1714-1830 (Reign of Georges 1-4)

Henry VIII Ascending to the throne in 1509, his reign saw the decisive first steps in the English Reformation and marriage to six wives.

James I James VI of Scotland, crowned James I of England and Ireland in March 1603, reigned until his death in March 1625.

Charles I King of England, Scotland and Ireland, whose reign ended in civil war, execution and the abolition of the Monarchy.

Interregnum The period from the execution of Charles I in 1649 until the Restoration of the monarchy in 1660.


Charles II Son of Charles I, he reigned from the Restoration until his death in February 1685.
James II The brother of Charles II, he reigned from 1685 and fled abroad when William of Orange invaded England in 1688.
William and Mary The son-in-law and daughter of James II, they reigned as joint monarchs after the invasion of 1688. Mary II died in 1694 and William III reigned alone until his own death in 1702.
Anne The sister of Mary II and daughter of James II, she reigned from 1702 to 1

No King Caroline either,Carolinian is the two Charleses.

The Regency period is a sort of subdivision of the Georgian era, running from about 1790 until 1820 (roughly - I think it depended on how well George III was regarding his mental health, as he did have good and bad periods in between).
