AN ENVELOPE OUT OF YOUR BIN

We shred anything with a name and address on, especially junk mail. My sister always worries me because she has a bit of a "head in the sand" approach to her finances and doesn't open her bank statements - all it would take would be a nosy friend (or a friend of a friend) and she could have real problems! I don't think she realises how much information you can compile about someone if you try to.

Ordinary fliers and newspapers and so on just go in our paper recycling bin if they haven't got names and addresses on, but we save all our shredded paper up and compost it bit by bit.

Another thing you can do instead of shredding every little thing ie shopping receipts, is stick in some water then squeeze it up tight into a ball.
They would have a job opening it up to read.

I shred all accounts every six months. Also, I put a thick black texta through my name and doc's name on chemist's labels. Most envelopes are window type but anything with name, address, account numbers on - all go through the shredder.

My account here is not in my correct name, and I have two email addresses.

We shred, but they could get our name and address from the phone book!

Hubby does it once a week....puts all addressed envelopes in a bin and at the end of the week ...Shredded !!

Tell me about it. As our shredder has broken, I spent what seemed like hours yesterday ripping up paper for the recycling :(((
