Lol Ann

I was just concoctin a worse verse
for all to read at leisure
but can't think of a hero or heroine
that other members could treasure

Well..now that I think of it
there are maybe one or two
but perhaps I'll leave the real poetry stuff
to you and you and YOU!

That is good Stella, a hero indeed, and although I guess it was written about a World War hero, sadly there are many young ones like him now.

"Hail the conquering hero comes",
no burst of gunfire , beat of drums.
Just bowing heads and tears in rain
on an English street lined with pain.
Silence for the soldier lying
under the flag. His widow, crying,
tries to smile for the liitle son,
for the parents, the pride, the love of one
who will no longer march beside
his friends...at least, not those who bide
in desert sand and try to give
a meaning to the words, 'to live' .
Farewell our hero, we pray that few
will come back home the way you do.
