Oh yes, "She'll be coming round the mountain" was so cheerful and guaranteed to get everyone joining in.

Most of these songs were musichall songs Wish we had something like it now, with songs you could sing with. I can recite My Grandfathers clock, right through!

Have just googled My Grandfather's Clock and it seems the Everly Brothers did a version of that song.

The other songs my Grandad taught me were:

Foogy Foggy Dew

Quarter Master Stores

Rickety Tickety Tin

Rattlin Bog

Great Memories!

One I remember may not be considered suitable by some! 'Does the driver want to wee wee, does the driver want to wee wee, does the driver want to wee wee, if he does we do too.' This should be robustly sung to Battle Hymn of the Republic tune.

Does anyone else have old songs they learnt from their Grandparents? I remember when I was a little girl, long journeys from Hampshire to Devon(My Dad's birthplace) Grandad used to sing to us to keep us amused. We used to have such fun and I still remember most of those songs today. That was about 35-40 yrs ago. I have now taught my own Grandchildren who love to sing these old songs. One they really like is:

My Grandfather's Clock.
