crumbs in the bed :))

Just moving a book case , so looking at the books as I go.... do you have some books that you go back to often, on winter nights or when you feel ill or sad ?

Mine are ,
LOTR ( inevitably lol)
'Herb of Grace' and 'The Heart of the family' , by Elizabeth Goudge
Beverley Nichols, several of these 'Down the Garden Path' 'Village in a Valley'
Bill Bryson ( when I need to laugh :) 'Thoughts from a Small Island'
Almost anything by Maeve Binchy that I have ....
Poetry books....

I used to read a great deal as a youngster and in the winter time our house was very cold , so I had a winter reading glove ( it was one of my old Nans ).........I would lay in bed with just the gloved hand exposed ( usually holding LOTR or an Arthurian novel ) ..........lol

I really need to get my eyes tested then I think I could take up the joy of reading again : ))
Edit to say : Mary Rose and The Bluebird are both comfort books to me

Mine would have been ,the Secret Seven ,The famous Five ,and Black Beauty.
I cannot now be without a book.Have read all my life ,and would be lost if I didn;t have a book to hand lol.Mystery ,Murder and thrillers are my cup of tea, with the occasional true story like a child with an abusive background.
I just have to have a book !!!!!!

I bought an old book from a house clearance years ago called 'The Bedtime Book' and it is full of stories, poems, a bit of everything really, its really tatty and torn, but I love it.
Another is my favorite childhood book 'children of the new forest' I like to read it on a cold day in the winter when I feel like Hybernating

Dear Rambling Rose

Hello

My comfort book is called "Losing the weight of the world".
It is full of quotes from all different religions.

It is not preachy at all and makes me happy to read it.

Also, most of Rosalind Lakers historical novels.

Take care of yourself.

Best wishes to all
xx
