It may be worth posting this on chat too if no one has done this already.

Absolutely, Jean.

If nobody protests it will be assumed we all agree.

But we are all paying the tolls directly or indirectly.

I dont think people understand how this might affect them, or more would be signing.

Having spent many an hour queuing to cross the bridge or to go through the tunnel they should be talking about doing away with the toll not selling it to a private concern who will no doubt put the tolls up. Happy to have signed.

Thank you Jean.

Am going to sign now, Brian. Its as bad as selling London Bridge.
Come on, think about it. The company that buys this will have control of most of the commerce coming and going for this country. Any profit on that should be for the taxpayer, or abolish the tolls altogether.

I am disappointed that, out of the thousands of GR members, it appears probable that not one has signed up.

OK, the petition is up on the No. 10 website.

http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Dartford-Sale/

After reneging on the promise to make it free, flogging it off is an insult too far. All tolls have been abolished in Scotland, England should follow suit.

I think that when it was first built,a statement was made that once it had been paid for with the Tolls., It would then become "Toll Free" but as usual with all Governments they renage on their promises. They said that Maggie Thatcher Sold the Family Silver. This lot have Sold The Family.**M**.

This is a complete scandal and a con to boot. Whilst £16 billion may sound a lot, it is but a drop in the ocean when it comes to the budget defecit Gordy has run up.

Perhaps he has been watching to much Cash in the Attic.

It is like the person about to be made bankrupt selling the family silver, just to give himself an extra two weeks before things come crashing down.

Personally I don't have strong feelings whether the Dartford Crossing is run by a private company or not, as long as it is run effectively, but this is neither the time nor place for a car boot sale.

I wouldn't mind Brian, but they keep selling of OUR STOCK, if we sold theirs we would be in BIG trouble!!

The Government is proposing to include the Dartford Crossing in the asset-stripping sale to raise some cash.

The tolls will therefore remain in place withn the new owners making a profit.

Please lobby your MP, motoring organisation and any other interested parties to stop the sale even if you do not use the crossing yourself, as a large proportion of our imports and exports goes through there and the cost and delays affect everybody in the Country directly or indirectly.
Far from being institutionalised, the tolls should be removed.

I am putting up a petition on the No. 10 website as well.

Please could this be nudged to keep it on the front page.
