I have a feeling that during National service, men were put in any regiment that was under manned. My OH was a born and bred Londoner, and he was put in the Irish Guards! |

Sorry Toddy, I misread your question. You can come from anywhere to join a regiment.,Durham is not far south of the boarder when all said and done. |
