On the 1891 census my great great Uncle has an occupation of a Brewers Clerk.

What is this occupation please? Is it to do with a brewery or could it be something else?

Thank you for your time.

Regards

Darkie

If my Dad was alive he would know Darkie, as he was a Timekeeper in a Brewery which meant he kept a log of the mens hours, and was generally in charge of who came to see the bosses, like reps etc and signing the men in and out and other jobs.
Probably a very similar job as your Gt.Gt. Uncle.

One of my ancestors was a Brewers Servant.

DId he work in the brewery or was he a personal servant to the brewer?

Just wondered.

Brewers Clerk would be a person working in the Offices of the Brewery.

All office workers in those days unless Managers were Clerks.
