can any one help i am doing my family tree and i have heard a story about my late father.during the war the boat he was in was destroyed he was reported missing in action but turned up about a year later in a hospital in australia. after losing an eye.i understand it was reported in the press does any one know how to check if it correct.you may ask how i do not know, but he was like a lot a lot of people who came back from the war he did not like to talk about the war.

try adding his name ( or name of boat/Ship) to the London Gazette search engine

If it was reported in the press your local Main Library may have copies on microfiche.

Ancestry also have a prisoners of war database for WW11
