Nicola...if you have a surname and your nan's maiden name , and possible location , you might just strike lucky, if the names are unusual... I can have a look at the births on Ancestry. if you want?

All births are transcribed on Ancestry so if you know your nan's surname and maiden name and where she lived you should be able to find his birth and death (unless he was stillborn). Was he born before or after your mum? Knowing that would help find the correct birth.

Hi Nicola
I have found two JEYNES births with the mother's maiden name SHORT.The District was Ledbury in the county of Shropshire/Herefordshire. Both the babies were girls born in 1948 and 1951.

No sign of a boy, though.

Nicola
if he was stillborn he would be on their register if your nan is no longer alive you mum would be next of kin and would have to apply for cert, is a section on GRO for it.

good luck
