In box 6 it says formerly Gater so think that it must be Pollicott where she lived ,thank you both.

I think I my imagination was getting the better of me I thought Policab might mean she had married twice or something !!!

It has been so hard to find the correct birth certificate that I am still looking for any odd clues.

Many thanks again

Could it be the mothers single namei.e.-Susannah Cherry - Mother ,formerly Policab, and they have forgotten to put the formaly in.

Just a thought.

I think you are probably right in thinking it is the place name for where she lived. I can't think of anything else that would fit.

Would anyone recognise the word Policab (Looks like Policab anyway) on a birth certificate. Can't find anything in dictionary.

Actually it is probably Pollicott the village in Bucks, which would fit, but just wanted to check if there was such a word as Policab as this ancestor has been very difficult to trace.

The cert says " The mark X of Susannah Cherry Mother Policab".
It would help if I could rule out any unusual terms ....thank you for any help.
