isnt it time the sticky thread re Harry Patch was deleted .
I have EVERY respect for the lads who gave their lives in WW1 ,and indeed ,as with many, my family lost men in that ghastly war,but maybe its now time to to let this thread go ??

I have to agree. He was a lovely man and deserves our respect but at the end of the day life moves on. I too lost family members in both wars so I'm not unfeeling - just realistic.

I wondered why it is still there, and like you Rita thought that maybe the poster of the thread has forgotten about it.

Like you all, I have the greatest respect for Harry Patch and for all the men that lost their lives in both World Wars. It's now time to move on. They will never be forgotten, as I also have men in my family that gave their lives for their country, in both wars. Regards, Sallie.

Hello :)

It is GR who has the ability to sticky and unsticky a thread and not the originator of the post. They obviously haven't got around to unstickying the threads on the boards yet.

I do agree with you.
Bless him it is not as if he has close family watching out for it... perhaps he has?
However, it has been up a long time.

Shirley, thanks for putting this thread up. I too think that the Harry Patch thread has been here for far too long now.

Yes, we all owe our freedom to the likes of Harry Patch, Henry Allingham and the thousands who have lost their lives to protect our rights in countless wars and conflicts. However, the time has come for the thread to go.

I think we have probably all been thinking the same but being afraid of seeming disrespectful. Maybe the originator has to contact GR with the request.

I am a member of a photographic service allied to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Our goal is to photographically record the resting place or memorial of all the fallen since 1914 so that they will be remembered in perpetuity. May I offer my views on GR remembering Harry Patch?

This wonderful man, together with the other "Last Survivors" were grand old warriors who deserved to be remembered. But I feel our tribute to him on GR has gone on long enough. Please let him go to glory, he will always be remembered, just as every other soldier from that terrible conflict will be.

Please let him Rest in Peace.

Amen.

Bernie my Boy, very well said. What beautiful sentiments
May they all Rest in Peace, including my Gt Uncle, who died a month before the end in 1918, whilst looking after his beloved horses at the front.

Diane,

Well said. Remembrance Day would be a great day for the last listing of Harry. The last listing, but not the last memory.

I asked GR to put a sticky on the threads about Henry Allingham and about Harry Patch until the dates of their funerals.

The sticky for Mr Allingham's was removed a couple of days after his funeral. The sticky for Mr Patch's was removed a couple of days before his funeral; I asked if the sticky could be reinstated until the funeral date and it was reinstated.

I posted on the thread on Harry's remembrance day, 22nd September.

I have both in my bookmarks.
