mmm....cant say I am convinced by that response. Surely, the person who accidently deleted the whole thread would have realised immediately what they had done and put a thread up advising that they had made a genuine mistake?

Its a poor server system etc they have Sue if they genuinely cannot retrieve the thread.

I know where I work I have accidently deleted something on a couple of occasions and it has been retrieved from the server.

Dear Michael

Thank you for your email.

I am very sorry for any upset this has caused you.

The thread was not intentionally removed, rather an error occurred which caused it's complete removal from the site.

Unfortunately we are unable to reinstate this thread, and ask that our members restart the thread should they wish to do so.

Best regards,

Laura

Just a thought, but how can GR say they cant retrieve the thread?? They can retrieve PM's between people from their database, so why cant they do the same for a thread??

Thing you have answered it there Mick, they can't be bothered!!

Yep it was the eye, dee, ten, tea, error. Common fault caused by unqualified people dabbling where they shouldn't, and not knowing the difference between 'delete post' and delete thread'.

The abuse team are not techies, or webmasters. I would bet that the site is actually run by an outside company, and the abuse team only have power to delete, sticky, lock thread, or ban members, nothing more. I doubt there is any more access to the site functionality than that, which is why they send the hopeless standard emails when we complain of a fault, telling us its not them it's us.
