Perhaps it was two flats (i.e.upstairs and downstairs in one house and one was empty and the enumerator forgot to put it empty. |

Wonder if it was two terraced houses knocked into one, like people do today? I was going to suggest that perhaps they owned both and rented one out but it would perhaps depend how wealthy they were. |

Hi I'm sorry to ask but could anyone come up with an answer for me please as to why in 1881 my Gladstone family should be living in no 4 and no 6 Berwick Street Gateshead and not just one address. There are only 6 people living in the house so i thought one house would be enough. |
