First of all, masive massive thanks for the help I asked for regarding marriages, it was the key I needed and has opened some fantastic doors!! I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about prisoner record, I have a Robert Israel who was HMP Wandsworth in the 1911 census, is it possible to get anymore info on that, where would I look?

Old papers at local records offices have them.
Sometimes the archives can be found online.
Sometimes the 'Gale newspapers' website has a free trial.

My GG uncle was in Aylesbury Prison in the 1851 census - co-incidently the same year his brother (my GG grandfather) went to London to become a metropolitan policeman.
I romantically thought he was in there for poaching to feed his starving family.
On no! He was in there because he tried to derail a train. Not only that, he wasn't living at home (thrown out perhaps?) and sounded like a 19th century hoodie!!
