Blinky hell Yvette - thats some speed reading - I read a lot of legal documents in my day to day work and am known for my speed and accurateness, but I cant do a book in hour, 4 or 5 is my average.
I take my hat off to you.

Sadly i am cursed with the talent of speed reading, my husband calls me an authors worst nightmare, lol I have tried to read slower but as soon as i get into a good book that's it....i'm hooked. One of the reasons i borrow from the library is because we would be up to our ears in books if i had to buy my own!

I read just about anything, and get really mad at myself when i devour a book i have been waiting ages for :-(

In less than an hour??? Wow - that's reading for you! I've never timed myself, but I'm sure I take longer than that.

Uzzi - I have read Beach Road - but (I plead old age here) - I would have to be reminded of what it is about - because for the life of me, I can't remember! I do only need to jog my memory and I will remember all of it! I buy my books but recently had a big clean up and donated more than half my supply - and that was one of them.

I like all those authors mentioned by Maddie and also follow Jean's Greaders group on General Topics. Have just ordered the next two to read for that and am more than half-way through Deadly Intent by Lynda LaPlante.

i agree about Patterson's chapters being too short, makes me feel really cheated when i've finished the book in less than an hour :-(

I'd recommend Lee Child if you like a good read, as an avid book reader i get most of mine from the library, but i actually buy his books

I've read that Agatha....... I love Sue Townsend ........was a long time ago now though.....and I can't remember the ending xx

I'm reading the Queen and I by Sue Townsend, the thought bof the royal family moving to a council estate is unbelievable.

NP Uzzi, I think they are all lent out but if I see one laying about ill PM you. Hes not expensive either as his books exept new are all in paperbacks now. The colour of Law I think was my first read, the latest I think was called The Perk, but there was a very good one whose title escapes me in the middle.

I got bored with a lot of my thriller writers last year, a freind lent me a book by a chap called Mark Gimenez - hes new and had only written three books Ive devoured them all and have his next on pre order. I think Patterson, Deaver, Cornwall and Riechs fanz will love him.

Berona that is one of my gripes about Patterson also but read Beach Road it is so different

My whinge about James Patterson is that his chapters are all short - less than one or two pages per chapter....Each chapter begins half-way down the page leaving the top half blank, then ends on a quarter or half way down a page, leaving the bottom half blank!

I seem to be forever turning pages, and it makes me feel that half the book is blank...I like his stories, but feel cheated.
