my laptop died this week and i went window shopping for a new one, i got sidetracked by the MacBook Pro, they look really good but are they worth the extra?

Definitely worth the extra, Yvette!! I have used a mac for years now and wouldn't go back to a pc. They are less prone to viruses (never had one in fact) - are very user friendly. The only drawback is if you have your tree on Family tree maker as I don't think they have a mac version.

I wouldn't go back to a PC, either - the only drawback I've ever found is that I sometimes get sent e-mail attachments from people with PCs that I can't open, but I can save documents and files on my Mac in formats that suit a PC and then send them to non-Mac users.

I've got Reunion as my tree programme - it's brilliant. Cost about £75 two years ago but I've never had any problems with it yet.
