Fawnlees hall - where granny worked

My maternal grandmother worked as a domestic at a large house called Fawnlees hall near Wolsingham in co. Durham. I guess that she would have been there around 1919 when she was 18. Where would I look to see if any ledgers of staff or other records were kept? I was wondering if anybody has any experience, ideas, or tips for researching such things? I have googled & found a little info. on the house, reportedly a Grade II listed building and that one of the Pet Shop Boys brought it in the 90s! I know this is a long shot but just another facet of family history I am trying to delve into.

Dear Paul

Hello

Have you contacted the archive service for that area:

DURHAM COUNTY RECORD OFFICE
COUNTY HALL
DURHAM
DH1 5UL

0191 383 3253

www.durham.gov.uk

Have you also tried typing in the area, then genuki in your computers search facility?

This will bring you into the GENUKI search engine.

It has pages of info about local history.
You need to look through it. There are a lot of resources and contacts.

Hope this helps

Best wishes
