how can I delete the replies I get from the helpful people who send me information. I have printed them all off but want to take them off the board. However I want to leave my original query in case anyone comes up with more info. speak slowly please - I'm not a whizz on these things.

In short, you can't. Only the people who put the replies on will be able to delete them.

Other people sometimes check through threads to find information before posting one of their own, so it could be just as useful to others. No harm in leaving it there. It won't interfere with your computer, as it is stored on GR's servers.

To add to TWEEODTs reply. If the thread is one you started, ie it has your name on the opening post you are able to delete the whole thread.

Just click the delete button on the first post on the thread.

As Teresa has just said, in doing this you may be depriving others of potential information. Someone may be researching the same names/families and your info will show up in a search.

If you leave you original query cos someone might come up with more info.......If you could do that, how would that person know what you had before if you want to take it off.

thank you all. became a bit worried that my relatives (whoever they are) might be embarrassed at seeing all their details in one place. Take your point Julie - hadn't thought of that - duh! Will leave things as they are then and hope for even more information and eventually even connect with cousins.
