This is aimed at the powers that be at Genes Reunited - What is the point of listing so called hot match contacts that have not used the site in who knows how long?
I have sent numerous messages (going back months) that have not been opened. Would it be too much to ask that when we click on a contact name that the date that they last logged on or used the site came up - at least we would Know whether to bother or not. It would save a lot of time, effort and ultimately end FRUSTRATION!!!!
Hope someone thinks about this & implements it asap.
Finished moaning now!!
Sharon.

It would be handy, sharon,
My brother in law died 2 years ago.
My sister tried to cancel all sites he was a member of, but she wasn't a member of GR, and didn't know he was (neither did I).
A month or so ago, I was messing around on here and put his details in the 'Search Records' section. Someone of his name, date of birth and place of birth appeared.
I then put in the details of his (grown up) children. They came up. Then his parents.
It was to much of a coincidence. I contacted GR , explained the situation, and, to their credit, they immediately cancelled his details and tree.
However, had I not been messing about, how many people would have tried to contact him?

I agree it would help to know if the "match" is for an active member.

I wonder how many of these maches are for people who claim hundreds (or even thousands) of people on their tree !!

I agree

On Ancestry it says when the person last logged on on Public Trees. I don't know about Private ones.

Island - that's true; but at least you can tell someone is still thinking of family history.

My cousin is a member on here (paying or not, I cannot tell). She may have changed her email address but she doesn't open my messages.

I have a feeling she isn't serious about doing the tree as she hasn't even put her late parents/grandparents on here :-(

The thing that used to annoy me and waste a lot of time was the problem of listing an 'unknown' . We all have loads of unknowns in our trees a bit further back, and it seems that when anyone else listed an 'unknown' the search engine thought that it was a relative of my 'unknowns', as it seems to think that 'unknown' is a name............it hasn't happened so much recently so perhaps it has been fixed in some way.
