We have had 3 lots of Lawn down at the back.None of it ever grows (good as it dont need cutting) but it seems we have some kind of thing in the earth. The whole lawn area is covered with mud that looks like it has come up from the ground like a worm or something.Anyone know what this is?It could be why we have rotten grass. annie |

Sounds like worm casts. The earth that worms throw out as they burrow. |

if it's worms though the grass should grow well despite the casts ... it might be worth digging down and see what's under there! |

Hi Granny, I agree with the others, that it is worm casts, mine is full of them at the moment. They don't do any harm, indeed lots of good. |

If it is worms the soil should be good under the grass, if you walk on the worm casts they turn into mud on the grass. You could try raking it in case you have got moss in it, then give it some lawn feed (not too much). |
