Poor old cat!

At the end of August we took our 14 and a half year old cat to have his teeth sorted. We'd alreay paid nearly £80 to clear an infection in his upper gums. When he was under the anaesthetic they took out his two long 'canines' (felines, surely?) and cleaned up the rest of his teeth. Total cost £289.

This week he has toothache again! I can tell by the way he is running away from his food again so I shall have to take him back to the vet's on Monday.

I am not impressed and neither is the poor cat.

Oh that is so sad.
Not being awful but wouldnt it be easier if they could give cats falsies like they do us humans.

When we took him to the vet for his check up after the op we saw a very young female vet. She wasn't confident with opening his mouth so I prised open his jaws so she could see his teeth.

If she did the work I am wondering if her inexperience is the reason that not enough teeth were extracted.

I shall be having a few words! We already got a £15 refund as they'd over charged for his blood tests.

Can you imagine his false teeth in a glass next to his bed at night? :-)

Felines?....well, I suppose it IS discrimination when you think about it!

What has annoyed us most is that we were reluctant to let him have a general anaesthetic as he has a heart murmur but it was Hobson's choice as he was in pain and could not eat.

Now he has to go through this again.

We have had animal's teeth done before (this cat's mother had hers done in July and has had no more trouble) and it should last a couple of years.

He is eating mashed up fish with ground rice.

Thanks for listening, folks :-)

It is just about a year ago, that my neighbour managed to trap a feral cat in his greenhouse. I had been feeding him for about two years, and was worried about another winter in the cold.

We took him to the vet,who took all his teeth out as they all had abscess's and sorted out his poorly leg. After six months of patience he has moved in next door for good.

Despite not having any teeth, he is now the fattest, sleekest spoilt cat i've ever known.
