Yesterday my daughter phoned in a state of high excitement , she had just witnessed a small deer getting knocked by a car on the main road near her flat ( this being in the town ) . She had seen it get up and run off but it's back legs kept giving way and she was concerned about it so gave " chase " . She called the police , who alerted the RSPCA . the deer took refuge in someones back garden , amongst the shrubs. After about and hour and a half the RSPCA lady turned up . She had a look at the deer ( from a distance I assume ) , decided it looked ok and told my daughter that it was best left where it was as if she caught it and took it in it would be destroyed ( even if it was 100% healthy ) as it is not a native species . |

Lots of Muntjak dear living in town gardens that never go near the countryside. |

Your probably right Bernard . I've spotted the odd one in the countryside here but not seen/ heard of them in the town before . |
