Brick walls - stuck on research

Dear All

Hello

How do you deal with brick walls with research?

I have gradually built up more of my tree but now come to a halt.

A bit stuck because my several of my ancestors have common names in the same area. Then the other problem is that they seem to disappear of one census and appear on the next one!

Could I have some advice please?

Thank you lots

Very best wishes
xx

Jackie

Hi Elizabeth

If you can't find your rellies on a census, it could be that they are mistranscribed. Ask for help on the Records office board, you'ed be surprised how quick the experts can find it for you.

Good luck

Another way I have found works is to buy the certificates of the persons birth, marriage or death. This often leads to the correct given name of parents etc. This is particularly useful when names are similar and common. I saved myself lots of work with one birth certificate. I had been searching for parents with one name and they were another.

I know it costs money but sometimes it's worth it.........
