I am going on holiday at Christmas to Austria. The problem is I have heard that there could be air cabin crew strikes at Christmas. I am going for 1 week but should I take out cover for more than that just in case I get caught up in these strikes or would my weeks cover be sufficient? |

I'm not sure how that works. |

If it was us we wouldn't take it for longer than a week. Your E111 (Health insurance for the EU) will cover you for basic health. We are not sure that normal travel insurance covers strikes. |

Go into the travel agents and ask them for advice. Even if you havent booked with them...they dont know you have allready booked. |

If you take out usual insurance, and check it covers you for strikes, you should automatically be covered for as long as it takes to get you home etc, but just double check with the company you book with. |

If you're paying by credit card you might find that the credit card company provide travel insurance as part of their package. |

I think it is true that as a general rule it is long haul flights that are affected. However strikes can mean delays for everyone if there are delays at airports. I thought it was only BA cabin crews talking of strikes. |
